 Dada Movement in Europe

Alberto Giacometti - The Chariot, 1950

 Jackson Pollock - Number 21, 1951

 Alberto Giacometti - ?

Brasserie Lipp, Zürich. We had dinner there and it was lovely!

Yesterday the family and I went out on a cultural outing. We drove all the way up to Zürich to visit the Kunstmuseum where two exhibitions are shown at the moment. The first one is a installation of various things by the Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist, it involves lots of videos & lights and interesting setting of everyday objects in order to express something we don't dare to say out loud or just to make us feel something. It's very hard to explain, you have to be there to understand what I mean... The second exhibition was a mix of contemporary art with sculptures and paintings from Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti and some other contemporary artist such as Pollock, Manet, etc. And there was a small room dedicated to Dadaism an artistic, intellectual and literary movement first born in Berlin, Germany during the first World War, and which then expanded to New York. Very short exhibition about this movement, that is the only downside of the museum, but still worth visiting!

So if you live in Switzerland, and is staying in Switzerland for a couple of days or weeks, and is into art such as me, I highly recommend you to go visit the Kunstmuseum in Zürich, The Pipilotti Rist exhibition is on until May 5th, and the "Dadaglobe" exhibition until May 1st! Enjoy!
